We have a separate division, CWC Energy Assessors that provides BASIX & Energy Consultancy services to all members of the community. Our Assessor is suitably trained to provide BASIX Certificates and Thermal Performance Assessments (NatHERS and Accurate software) for all types of residential developments.
What is BASIX? It is a web-based tool introduced by the State Government to ensure new residential developments are designed to use less potable water*, produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions* and achieve an appropriate level of thermal comfort. BASIX also applies to all new swimming pools/outdoor spas with a combined volume of 40,000 litres or more and to residential renovations with a construction value of $50,000 and over. A BASIX Certificate is required when lodging an application for all new residential developments and residential renovations that meet the criteria above.
*Generally, the target is 40% reduction on the current usage by the average home
What is a Thermal Performance Assessment? It is an option for the Thermal Comfort section in BASIX (known as the Simulation Method) and requires an Accredited Energy Assessor to complete a Thermal Performance Assessment (also known as a NatHERS or Energy Assessment) using specialized software. An ABSA Certificate is generated and will need to accompany the BASIX Certificate when lodging the application with Council. Our Assessor is accredited with the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (member #20606 – www.absa.net.au).
